Easy Ham and Potato Corn Chowder
Growing up one of my favorite meals we had was a potato soup my mom made. I always cut up a hot dog to put in it! I can't remember the last time I ate a hot dog, but ham is just as easy to come up with and an even more delicious way to pack flavor into a creamy chowder. Our family has a soup night at least once a week. Soup is a great way to use up veggies in the fridge that might be getting close to being tossed and since I'm always cold, it's a great way to heat up from the inside out! I am convinced that your family will love this easy ham and potato corn chowder too!

3 Ways Soup Will Save You Money on Groceries
With food prices increasing, people are starting to become more mindful of their grocery costs. Lucky for you, I've always been frugal when it comes to food shopping so I'm happy to share my tips to help you save money on groceries.
Soup Lets You Use What You Have
The veggies don't have to be crisp when you make soup, so you can use up some of the items in your crisper drawer that are starting to look a little weak helping to eliminate food waste. You can also use up meats that you have leftover so you don't waste protein. A little meat can go a long way in soup! This recipe is a great way to use up leftover ham that you might have from a holiday meal or when you find it on sale as a way to make the most for your money when shopping.
Soup Ingredients Are Relatively Inexpensive
Carrots, celery, and onions are relatively inexpensive and you can often buy them on sale or at a discount when grocery shopping. These are also ingredients that will last weeks with proper storage too. I often make my own broth using leftover bones and a slow cooker. It's not as hard as you might think! Here are some tips for making your own soup stock. But around the holidays, broth often goes on sale, so it's a good time to stock up.
Soup Recipes Are Substitution Friendly
While baking is more of a science, once you get comfortable with making soup, you will realize that items can easily be substituted as you have more of one item and less of another. I found that making soup also opens up the doors for understanding cooking more in general and gives you more confidence in the kitchen to make changes to a recipe without having something go terribly wrong!
