Everyone knows the story of Chip and Joanna Gaines working their way around Waco, Texas flipping houses. While it might seem like there isn’t a place on earth quite like Waco, Texas, there are still plenty of towns that are just as charming as this Fixer Upper paradise. There are plenty of cities where you can easily get your own Fixer Upper and have that same small-town charm. Blowing Rock, North Carolina

You’ll find Blowing Rock tucked away in the deep part of the North Carolina mountains. Named after the Blocking Rock cliff above the John Rivers Gorge, this little mountain town is perfect for hiking and fishing. Main Street is full of shops, galleries, and eateries, and you’re just a few miles from Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, and the Tweetsie Railroad.

Seabrook, Washington

One of our favorite beach towns in Washington state is Seabrook. Seabrook is a relatively new town founded in 2004 with the new urbanism concept. Everything in the town is a short 5-minute walk away. Bike riding is encouraged and the small town square is being built up as we speak to include everything you need to make your home in this adorable beach community.

Beaufort, North Carolina

Beaufort is one of the oldest towns in South Carolina and even voted one of the top small towns in Southern Living Magazine. This historic town has rivers that go out to the sea and waterfront restaurants all around. Take a stroll along the streets to see views of large oak trees and antebellum-style mansions. Head on the water or go for a walking tour of this small quaint little town.

Fairhope, Alabama

This little town is known as the City of Flowers and is a lovely place to visit. You can spend hours browsing antique shops or head to one of their many specialty shops for anything from fine cigars to fishing gear. There are over 100 shops and galleries in the main part of town for shopping, and plenty of places for dining and relaxing in their quaint cafes. This little town has all the charm of a traditional southern city.

Natchez, Mississippi

This little town in Mississippi is said to have more antebellum style houses than any other city in the United States! The slow-paced ambiance of this small town makes you appreciate the little things in life. Take a scenic trip by steamboat down the river, or see St. Mary’s Basilica here. This small town in Mississippi is full of southern charm and small-town vibes.

Wimberly, Texas

If you’re still looking to stay in Texas, then Wimberley is a great option! This small town has a ton of charm and is deep in the Texas Hill Country. Blue Hole Regional Park and Jacob’s Well are the perfect places to go for a dip on a hot summer day or take a scenic drive at the entrance point to Devil's Backbone. This place is home to some great bluegrass festivals and southern hospitality.

 

As you can see, there are just as many towns out there like Waco, Texas, that don’t get nearly the same amount of publicity. While Waco might be the home of Chip and Joanna Gaines, it’s not the only place to get your Fixer Upper fix.
