Without a doubt, I knew that I wanted to paint my dining room with dark navy paint. I'm not afraid of color but after talking to some people who had painted their rooms a bold color, the hardest part of finding the right color is making sure that the color you want actually looks like the color on the walls throughout the day. I wanted my walls to look navy blue. Not navy greenish or navy with purple undertones, I wanted it to be navy blue. Surprisingly, I had a harder time picking a neutral beige than I did a bold color. I'm pretty sure though, I found the perfect navy blue. So if you are thinking of going bold with a navy, I've got the perfect color for you!
Selecting the Perfect Dark Navy Paint Color for Your Walls
If you saw my post a few weeks ago, you would see some of the navy rooms I was using for inspiration. These are the navy paint chips I brought home to decide and I really must say, it was pretty darn easy for me to narrow it down.
I ended up picking the color Naval by Sherwin Williams. I got the new Emerald Interior paint and was really happy with how it went on the walls.
I have a lot of white trim in the dining room with columns and a lighted tiered ceiling and love how the navy makes the white accents pop.
The ceiling also got a coat of paint in Sherwin Williams Emerald Interior Extra White. The same color as my master bedroom closet got.
I also like my antique hutch {even though my whole family hates it!} with all my pewter and milk glass collections inside. I think the contrast of the wood with the navy works well together.
I'm keeping my eye out for a new chandelier in the room and I want to add a few gold framed canvases on both sides of the hutch, but it may be awhile before I find exactly what I'm looking for.
Don't be afraid to paint a room a bold color. It's daring and dramatic but I think it definitely pays off!

It looks beautiful! This is such a timely post for me because I have been narrowing down some navy paints for my dining room as well. I also have dark furniture so it's nice to see a finished room with the same tones. Gorgeous!

I'm working to incorporate some gold or brass in the room, but so far I love it all!
I love color & think the navy looks beautiful & very classy! I have a dining room with the white paneling on the bottom, too, and I am hoping to do a blue, too. I keep searching for the perfect blue
Look no further Jen! This is it!
