DIY Three Tiered Serving Stand

You all know how much I love my garage sales. I even wrote an ebook about it. I'm always looking for new uses for old things. I have had my eyes on the three tiered stands that are so popular right now. I knew I could make my own and started looking at pans I was finding at garage sales a little differently.

I ended up deciding to use these three different sized springform pans and some candlesticks and came up with this fabulous DIY project. I'm sharing how you can make one too!

DIY Three-Tiered Stand

I started by painting my raw wood candlesticks silver to match the galvanized silver of my springform pans. I was lucky to find three different sizes of cake pans at a garage sale for about a quarter a piece. You'll pay a little bit more, but you can buy springform pans too.  I also purchased a finial {like this} for the top of the stand.

I was going to glue the whole thing together but my engineer husband stopped me. It just wasn't sturdy enough. So we went to Home Depot like normal married people do on a date and found some 3/8" threaded rods. Why not a screw you ask? Because we couldn't find a 3" long screw that was 3/8" wide. Apparently, cutting your own screws is totally normal. It's a thing. You just take a hacksaw and have at it. I left that part up to the hubby.
We used a drill to drill a hole in the middle of the bottom of the first tier. The drilled hole will come all the way up through the candlestick. Then you will put a screw in and attach the two parts together.

Take your drill and screw a hole about an inch deep down through the center of the candlestick. This will be how your second tier will attach.

Screw those pieces together.

As you can see, we are on the final tier. The finial is the only thing that needs to be screwed in place on the screw that is sticking out the top.

Once it's complete, use your three tiered stand and decorate your little heart out.

I made mine into a stand to hold everything we needed for an outdoor lemonade drink station.

This stand would be perfect this summer because it will have everything that you need ready for when you have friends pop by.

You can find these three tiered stands already made {this one is $76!}, but why do that when you can make your own.

My stand took me about an hour to make and about $5 in supplies. Chalk that up to another reason why I love garage sales. You can find just about everything you need to create at a fraction of the price!
