Our rainy season is LONG, but when the sun comes out, I think that we live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I'm not sure if all the rain makes me appreciate the sunny days more, but when that sun is shining, it's hard to keep me inside. I love spending time outside especially in our yard.  Some of my favorite afternoons are spent with the warm sun setting, hanging out in the yard with my kids. Being active is great, but sometimes, games that help us be still and work our brains are exactly what we need. I'm sharing how you can enjoy your yard space with an easy DIY backyard chalkboard and I'm sharing games you can play on it. Kids of all ages will love this!

Backyard Chalkboard Games

Several weeks ago, I used Roundup® For Lawns. The rain makes everything around us green and helps things to grow...even things I don't want growing, like weeds in my lawn.

Roundup has been the number 1 weed killing brand for over 40 years. Now, you can use that same brand that you have depended on for years in a new formula you can use on your lawn. Roundup For Lawns kills the weeds, not the lawn.

I want my lawn to look nice, but I don't want to spend a lot of my time doing it. Roundup For Lawns is quick and easy to apply so you can enjoy more time doing what you love, like playing games in the yard!

You can make nearly anything into a chalkboard with a little chalkboard paint. I always keep a jar of chalkboard paint on hand. I found a sign at a thrift shop that I didn't really like, but once painted over with chalkboard paint, made the perfect surface for DIY backyard chalkboard games. It really is that easy. Find a flat surface, put a few coats of chalkboard paint on it and get ready to play!

I took some rocks from outside and used a paint marker to write x's and o's on them. Add your rocks to a bucket with some chalk markers and you have hours of backyard fun!

This two person game of dots is so much fun to play. Simply connect two dots with a line. Take turns and continue to connect lines trying to finish off a square. Once you complete a square, add your initial to it. Once all of the squares have been made, count up who has made the most. The person with the most completed squares wins!

Use your chalkboard to play Tic Tac Toe, draw pictures and play classics like hangman. Most of all, enjoy being out in the yard with the people that you love the most.

Spend more time doing what you love and less time getting rid of unwanted weeds. Your yard can be an amazing space for you to enjoy all spring and summer long!

We used Roundup this spring too, and it's so nice to spend time enjoying the yard without the weeds! Our boys love tic tac toe lately, so I'm loving the chalkboard and rock idea! So smart!!

These are all super fun ideas! We actually took our old wedding guest seating chart and turned it into a big chalk board that my daughter plays with now, so we could easily do any of these!!
