Top Blog Posts of 2016

I can hardly believe how quickly this year flew by. I had a crazy year with a few lows {this was one of them} and some pretty awesome highs.  As for the blog, it's been a pretty amazing year. Almost three years ago, I started to realize that I could turn my hobby blog into my business and have been working towards that goal since. In the past year, I became an LLC, rebranded from Holy Craft to RachelTeodoro and have been hustling to make my blog my full time job. It's been a lot of work, but it's been so very rewarding for me.  For the past seven years, I have been wrapping up my year of blogging with the top posts from that year. It's always fun for me to look back on the year and see what I have done. So let's take a stroll down memory lane with me, won't you?

Inside a Fixer Upper Clients Home After the Show

This was, hands down, the post that had the most traffic to it this year. With nearly 2 MILLION page views, you all are officially Fixer Upper OBSESSED! The Ferguson family was kind enough to let us take a glimpse inside their newly remodeled home that was featured on season 3 of Fixer Upper. When we learned that the furniture and decor was all part of the staging and that it didn't stay after the film crew left, we all wanted to take a peek inside to see what a lived-in home designed by Chip and Joanna Gaines really looked like. In case you missed it, come on over and check it out.

Exclusive Interview with a Fixer Upper Client

Carrying on with the Fixer Upper trend, the exclusive interview that Jaime Ferguson gave was the next most viewed post. This post taught me a LOT about copyright infringement since nearly every big name website wanted to take the information from my post and make it their own. Jaime and I were both a bit surprised that this post caught as much steam as it did, but in hindsight, until I wrote this post, we had never really met the clients behind Fixer Upper.  Sure, we had heard from Chip and Joanna Gaines but we had never heard what it was really like to be a client of theirs. Thanks to Jaime being open and honest with us, we got a lot of new insider Fixer Upper information that had never really been confirmed before. It was a lot of fun to write but not only that, I came away with a new friend. If you haven't read it {or need a refresher} you can find it here.

5 Things to Know Before you go to Magnolia Market

We're on a roll aren't we? Let's just keep on this Fixer Upper theme and round this out with my post on 5 things to know before you go to Magnolia Market. This year has brought me to Waco, Texas a handful of times. It's now my son's new home {Sic 'em Bears} for the next four years so it will continue to be a place I travel to at least once a year. Magnolia Market is new and fresh and has become a sort of mecca for Fixer Upper fans from all over the world. It's such a lovely little part of the world and it's been fun sharing my new knowledge from my visits with you.

Ombre Spray Painted Glitter Cold Cup

I did do a few things that weren't centered around Fixer Upper {though you wouldn't know it by reading this post so far!}. I love to travel and one of my favorite places to travel to are all-inclusive resorts. If I share any tip to someone going to an all-inclusive resort for the first time, it's to bring your own cup. Our family traveled together to Cancun in June and I made a few glitter cups to take with us. I got the knock off brand at Wal-Mart {not Yeti, those things are pricey!}, and was beyond impressed at how it kept my drinks cold even when it was dang hot out there! Not only that, I loved making my cup my own by personalizing it. I got a ton of compliments on it and this has been one of my most visited craft posts {and one of the most pinned posts on Pinterest} of the year. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot and make your own ombre spray painted glitter cold cup.

How to Clean Your White Converse

While we are talking about most pinned projects, this one, where I show you how to clean your white converse is way up there. I picked up a pair of these shoes at a garage sale this summer for a few bucks that were a bit rough. It's hard to keep white canvas shoes looking clean. I shared all my secrets for making your white canvas shoes looking brand new.

19 Things You Should Always Buy at the Dollar Store

If we want to talk about viral posts, my what not to buy at the Dollar Store post in 2012 was my first dip into what it was like to go viral on the internet. For years I had people e-mailing me asking me about their dollar store purchases. I became a little bit of an expert, mostly because I spent far too much money there and far too much time. I followed that post up with a current post this year and shared 19 things that you should always buy at the Dollar Store. I'm curious. Are they the same things you buy?

19 things that you should always buy at the dollar store, or else you will pay too much!

There you have it. The top blog posts of 2016 featured on RachelTeodoro.com. I'm so excited to share lots of real life, real people and real projects with you in the coming year. I've got a few things up my sleeve I know you guys are going to really enjoy.
