Bible Journaling with a Devotional

Earlier this year, I got my first journaling Bible and I love it! I'm a natural doodler and I am a bit of a creative personality, so exploring my faith while being able to nurture my creative side has been a lot of fun for me.  I have been working through a few short devotionals this summer and wanted to show you how those devotionals have flowed into my Bible journaling as well.

illustrated faith, truth, bible,

Every month, I have been getting these Illustrated Faith Devotional kits delivered to my door and I love them! I want to show you how I have been using my 14-day devotional and all it's goodies in conjunction with my Journaling Bible to dig deeper into the word.

I don't know about you, but I love getting packages in the mail. The Illustrated Faith packages are a ton of fun, because not only does it include a new {easy to carry with you} devotional, it also comes with a sheet of stamps, a stamp pad and some washi tape, plus some other goodies like scripture memory cards.

I was half way through my devotional and loved what I was learning that it inspired me to transfer some of those tidbits of knowledge over to my journaling Bible. I used a few of the items that were in the kit.

I started with blue water color paint for the background, spread on with a heavy piece of cardstock. Then, I used a pencil to sketch out my mountains.

I was reflecting on Psalm 121 which says:

I lift my eyes up to the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

I decided to use washi tape to fill in each of my mountains. I used scissors to help me make the right size pieces.

I wrote out the verse and outlined my mountains. I used the stamp pad and a sponge to add some color to the page and I used a few stamps from the kit to accent the lettering.

This months devotional is called I Am Strong by Wilna Furstenburg. I have always thought of myself as a strong person, but the problem with that is that I always tend to rely on myself first, rather than finding my strength through Him. You would think that in all of my decades that I would have learned by now that my strength isn't enough, but I'm obviously a slow learner! With grace I continue to relearn and take steps forward. I really needed this reminder this month.
