Welcome back to another transformation Tuesday! I'm so excited to share with you my latest garage sale find from Friday that has been transformed!
I had a chance to sample the metallic paint line from Modern Masters and was drawn to Pewter. There are some amazing metallics to choose from, but silver has my heart.
Bet you can't guess which item from my garage sale finds Friday I chose to paint metallic.
O.k., so maybe it wasn't that hard to guess.
Just to refresh your memory, I picked up this secretary desk with drawers for $10 at a garage sale. It was in great shape and good quality, it just isn't a color that I love.
I don't know if you realize how hard it is to find new hardware that will fit a vintage piece. Remember, I like to do things as thrifty as possible, and usually the best way to do that is to reuse what you have.
Well, what I had were these brass knobs. Which really, by themselves are quite awesome, but on a pewter desk just wouldn't work anymore.
Seriously all it took was a coat of silver spray paint to take these knobs up a notch.
I really loved using this metallic paint for this transformation. I couldn't believe how well it covered and the shine is perfect. Both subtle and bold depending on the light.
I sort of want to metallic paint all of the things. If you want to jump on the metallic paint bandwagon, you can find a Modern Masters retailer near you or shop their on-line shop.

Your desk is beautiful! Can you tell me if you used a brush, roller or sprayer? Your piece looks flawless! Does the Pewter have a blue hue to it? At first I thought you used Venetian Blue. Thanks!
Hi Mary! I actually painted this one with a brush and roller. It takes about 4 or 5 coats but it's totally worth it. It really is more silver and less blue. It's a great paint in a great color. I would highly recommend it!
