Vintage Doors and Windows

A few weeks ago, I heard the sounds of construction just down the street.
I kept my eyes peeled for signs of anything awesome in the trash bin but for weeks, I saw nothing.
I finally got brave enough to approach the workers on site this week when I noticed them replacing all of the vintage 1930's windows in the house.
After a few rusty attempts at communicating in my broken Spanish, I was pointed in the direction of the head contractor who was more than happy to load his trash windows up in my car.
He couldn't believe I would want old doors and windows.
To him, he told me, they are just trash.

Unfortunately, I should have approached sooner.
Turns out all of the interior doors (with original glass knobs) had all been trashed several weeks before.
But I wasn't too late to start picking out windows and he told me I was more than welcome to have the beautiful front exterior doors.
So in place of this weeks garage sale finds Friday, I bring to you, my vision for what to do with all of those incredible vintage doors and windows that are laying in trash piles, or lucky for me, some that are now in my garage!

So many awesome ideas!
See, they aren't trash!
What would you do with old doors and windows if you had some?

Agh! They threw away the doors with the glass knobs!? So sad. Good for you asking about everything. I blew it recently and didn't notice until too late that one of the old buildings in our town was being refurbished. All the windows were replaced. I have no idea what they did with everything because I didn't want to ask and find out they were in the trash. I couldn't bear it. And I need to pay attention sooner. I tend to notice the dumpsters and workers way too late when remodeling goes on around here anywhere. Seems like soon there will be no buildings left with original items inside. Gotta pay attention. Good for you. I can't believe how well you scored on all that. What are your plans for the doors and windows you got?

Oh my gosh that's crazy! I can't believe they don't salvage that stuff to make some side money??? So sad you missed the old glass knobs, those usually have the cool metal plate with the key hole! You know, the skeleton key hole!!! Great find! Will you post a photo? Thank you for linking at Cap Creations this week!

That was really lucky. Sad about the other doors and doorknobs. I have a link party on Wednesdays, and I would love it if you would link this post. It is called Wednesdays Adorned From Above Link Party. It is opened until Sunday night.
